DSF and Holiday Closures

Members,

If your dispatch selection form (DSF) was submitted more than 2
years ago and you aren’t sure what you have selected, OR if you
want to make changes to your DSF, please make sure dispatch
has an updated copy of your DSF.
You can get the form on your union website (www.ibupak.org), the
AMHS internal website, or from the pursers onboard the vessel.
Probationary employees – newly hired, less than 1092 hours in
work status in SE or 1,456 hours in work status in SW, you will
have a probationary DSF to fill out, but if you still need to make any
changes, you are also welcome to do that and submit those to
dispatch.

**PLEASE NOTE: DSF changes may take up to 30 days to
implement from submission**
Lastly, our offices will be closed in observance of the July 4th
Holiday and Bloody Thursday.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – Seniority points and bid memo

!!NOTICE!!

Please be advised that the most recent bid list and seniority list have confirmed inaccuracies on it and you might also be affected. Please scrutinize your seniority points to check for mistakes. It would be ideal if you can review back to 2023, using the seniority point calculation chart.

Make sure you have access to IRIS or copies of your pay stubs to ensure you have had 84 hours within the calculation dates listed under these two files:

Jhen Miller is the point of contact (jhen.miller@alaska.gov), please email her and CC us notifying of her of what inaccuracies you have found within the seniority AND/OR bid list.

International Longshore and Warehouse Union Convention

Krissel and I will be out of the office this week.  We are attending the ILWU Convention being held in Vancouver B.C.  These conventions are held every 3 years at different locations on the West Coast.  The IBU is the Marine Division of the ILWU in the United States.  We have 25 Delegates from all the regions, Alaska, Hawaii, Columbia River, Puget Sound, San Francisco, Southern California, attending.  We will still be able to conduct business though our phones may not be working the entire time.  Please email either Krissel or I if you have any issues and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Earling Walli

Updates

Members,

  • Here are the current happenings in Alaska legislation sessions: Hot Sheet 4/3/2024
  • I have found out that some AMHS vessel employees will accidentally email my alaska.gov email address. It might be because you are using your work email and enter my name and the internal address book will pull up my address. I do not check that email for Union business purposes. Please make sure you are emailing Krissel at ibuketchikan@ibu.org
  • The Lituya pay scale is incorrectly listed in the contract, but it has been confirmed by Department of Finance that any employee who have or who are working under those positions have had the correct wage paid out.

BSA Increase

Brothers and Sisters,

If you have the time and support the BSA increase please go to the links below to thank our House Reps and Senators for passing this through both bodies.  57 law makers came together in bipartisan support of this bill.
